Arkansas offensive coordinator Dan Enos is a forgotten star

Arkansas OC Dan Enos is overshadowed – time to change that

Eric Bolin

With your bacon, have some Hogs for Breakfast. It’s SEC Country’s weekday column and roundup on all things Arkansas. Opinion, numbers, inane babble and more! And now with ironic exclamation points! There is no place like it on the web.

Anyone else feel like Dan Enos is a bit of a forgotten man on the Arkansas coaching staff? All the issues the team had last year and almost not a one involved the Razorbacks offensive coordinator.

Robb Smith took the brunt of the teams’ problems. He’s now, of course, the former defensive coordinator. Rory Segrest, the defensive line coach, also left after Arkansas’ front line was 94th best in the country – out of 128 teams – in stopping the run. Kurt Anderson took some flack early (and often) when the Arkansas offensive line was looking rough.

The only thing Enos ever was bagged on for was a play-call here or there. And, really, every offensive coordinator gets knocked for that at some point. Doesn’t matter who you are. Everyone’s a play-caller in those home stands.

Have to remember, though, Enos is a sought-after guy. SEC teams came knocking this time last year. Another year like last, especially with the personnel losses Arkansas suffered in the offseason, and head coaching spots will be open for him this time next year.

Having fun yet?

The Missouri-Arkansas rivalry is just budding. Forced as it may have been from the outset, the trash talk has taken it to new levels.

Missouri’s Eric Beisel began it first thing Wednesday morning – as he began it last fall – and then Arkansas cornerback Ryan Pulley responded on Twitter. Gotta love it.

The teams meet this year on Nov. 24 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. It’s the final game of the year. Missouri won it last year as a mighty underdog, 28-24.

Ole Miss sure ain’t Arkansas’ rival

Bret Bielema owns Hugh Freeze. Why should that change any time soon? None of us at SEC Country think it will, really.

Check out the prediction of Arkansas-vs-Ole Miss here. Each of our reporters – myself, Jason Kersey and Trent Shadid – are going through the games with previews and our score picks.

Later Thursday, you can read about Game 11: Arkansas vs. Coastal Carolina.

Bielema Baby is adorbs

Everyone loves a baby. Everyone loves a coach’s baby.

Everyone loves Coach’s baby.

Bret Bielema tweeted out another picture of baby Briella on Wednesday. Check it out.

Nutty development

Well, one place Ole Miss and Arkansas do crossover is with their former coaches. And one is going after the university in Oxford.

Houston Nutt has filed suit against Ole Miss, claiming a defamation attempt.

This should be interesting…in a comical way. More will be known Thursday morning in Hoover, when Hugh Freeze meets with the press at SEC Media Days.

Stay tuned.
