FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas junior wide receiver Jared Cornelius is expected to return this week from a back injury that forced him to miss the Hogs’ 42-3 win over Texas State last Saturday.
Arkansas coach Bret Bielema said Monday that Cornelius should be “full go” for practice Tuesday and would be ready to play against Texas A&M on Saturday. Cornelius had wanted to play against Texas State, but the coaching staff felt it was important to have him rested as the team enters SEC play.
Cornelius’ injury had previously been described as a “sore back” that was bothersome in Week 2 against TCU.
Bielema said it had not yet been decided if Cornelius would reassume his duties as the Razorbacks’ punt returner.
Cornelius has 3 catches for 30 yards and a touchdown, and is averaging 17.5 yards per punt return this season.
