WR commit Barkley scores 3 times in Texas championship game
Arkansas wide-receiver commit Maleek Barkley wrapped up his career at Lake Travis High School (Austin, Texas) in impressive fashion Saturday night.
Barkley (6-foot, 185 pounds) had 138 receiving yards and 3 touchdowns — 2 receiving and 1 rushing — as Lake Travis defeated The Woodlands (Texas) High School, 41-13, to win the Texas Class 6A Division I championship.
Primarily a running back this season, Barkley rushed for 1,336 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior. He added 613 yards and 7 touchdowns receiving.
The 3-star recruit committed to Arkansas last April over offers from Arizona, Illinois, Utah and others. He recently received an offer from Michigan State.

Warren earns MVP in all-star game
Barkley wasn’t the only commit who shined Saturday. Fellow WR pledge De’Vion Warren earned MVP honors in Louisiana’s I-20 Bowl.
The game, in its inaugural season, pits all-stars from Northeast Louisiana against those from Northwest Louisiana. Warren led Northeast Louisiana to a 28-23 comeback victory. Though he’s expected to play receiver at Arkansas, he operated at quarterback in the I-20 Bowl, as he did for Ouachita Parish High School (Monroe, La.) last season.
Warren (5-10, 170) had a 74-yard touchdown run and a 76-yard touchdown pass in the win. The 3-star athlete recruit recently was named a Central Louisiana first-team 2-5A District quarterback.
Here’s video of Warren’s 74-yard rushing score from Saturday:
