Pressing question: Where will Arkansas’ top remaining target sign on National Signing Day?
Calloway, a 4-star cornerback from Dallas, would be the Hogs’ highest-rated high school commit in the class. Ole Miss and Texas are his other finalists. The Razorbacks have been in heavy pursuit of him for several months, particularly after he de-committed from Iowa in November.
A major advantage for the Hogs with Calloway is his connection to the state. He’s originally from Arkansas, grew up watching the Razorbacks and has several family members who are big fans of the program.
Calloway took an official visit to Fayetteville on Jan. 20-22) and all indications were he came away impressed. Eight of the Razorbacks’ longtime commits were visitors on the same weekend, with several pushing Calloway to join them.
Defensive back commits have been particularly persistent. Arkansas has 5 combined commits and signees in the position group. Many of them stated they’re looking to turn the program into the new “DBU” — Defensive Back University, a label mostly reserved for schools including LSU and Florida.
Landing Calloway would give the Hogs their best incoming defensive back group in recent memory. It would be an exceptional group of 7players, including a couple 4-star recruits.
