Bret Bielema thinks SEC Player of Week votes need to be recounted
Derrick Henry won the SEC Offensive Player of the Week award for Week 1 as he rushed for 147 yards and three touchdowns in Alabama’s opening win against Wisconsin.
Apparently that is not impressive enough for Arkansas coach Bret Bielema.
Bielema tweeted his displeasure with Henry winning the award and instead lobbied for his quarterback Brandon Allen to win the award. Allen completed 14 of his 18 passes for 308 yards and four touchdowns in an Arkansas’ win against UTEP.
You have to love Bielema sticking up for his guy, but Henry’s performance was great considering he only got 13 carries.
If Allen keeps putting up stats like that he will get the honor one week before the season ends. If he doesn’t expect Bielema to keep tweeting until he does.
