Offensive line in great shape for ’17 class
Offensive line coach Kurt Anderson was hired by Bret Bielema in January, and he’s wasted no time getting busy on the recruiting trail.
Anderson, who had been with the Buffalo Bills since 2013, has helped the Razorbacks land commitments from three offensive linemen with another announcing his pledge as a preferred walk-on for the 2017 class.
“I think my personality, the way that I approach the game, is a great fit for the college game,” Anderson told SEC Country last week.
“I think recruits are intrigued by where I came from and what I was able to accomplish there. You combine that with a place that is as steep in history on the offensive line as Arkansas is, I think that automatically deems a second look for them. Then I think once they realize my teaching style, how I approach a room, and things like that, that obviously leads to some good things.”
Offensive linemen Kirby Adcock from Nashville (Ark.) High School and Shane Clenin from Jefferson High School (Festus, Mo.) committed in April, and 6-foot-9, 315-pound Richmond-Burton High School (Richmond, Ill.) prospect Dalton Wagner committed last week. All of them are 3-star prospects. Audry Horn of Catholic High School (Little Rock, Ark.) has announced his pledge as a preferred walk-on. Horn his also a 3-star prospect, according to 247Sports.
All four have told SEC Country their relationship with Anderson played a major role in wanting to join the Razorbacks.
“I think the recruiting has gone very well for us,” Anderson said. “I think it’s just begun, but I think we’re well on our way to accomplishing the type of future that we want with the offensive line here that Coach Bielema and I both envision.”
The Razorbacks project to sign four or five offensive linemen in the class.
Tight end target reportedly commits to Alabama
Arkansas tight end target Kedrick James has committed to Alabama, according to a report from KCEN’s Jessica Morrey on Sunday night that was confirmed by SEC Country.
The 6-foot-5, 245-pound James visited Arkansas last Thursday and had listed the Razorbacks along with Alabama and Michigan in his top three.
The 3-star prospect from La Vega High School (Waco, Texas) was previously committed to Baylor before decommitting in late May after coach Art Briles was fired.
Cornerback target sets commitment date
Arkansas 2017 cornerback target Endrickson Boucher recently announced on Twitter he will be making his commitment August 12.
Boucher is a 5-foot-11, 170-pound, 3-star prospect from Boynton Beach (Fla.) High School. He was offered by the Razorbacks on June 13. He recently listed Arkansas, Florida Atlantic and Middle Tennessee State as his top three choices.
