Mirotic was expected to be the Bulls’ starting power forward when they begin their season this week. Portis, 22, is a reserve forward who has shown promise.
Portis was the No. 22 overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft out of Arkansas. He’s averaging about seven points and five rebounds per game through two NBA seasons.
