While reports that came out on Friday were deemed untrue, Arkansas defensive coordinator Robb Smith still may be on the move.
Per Tom Murphy of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Smith interviewed for the defensive coordinator opening at Wake Forest on Thursday night. Per Murphy, Smith is believed to be the favorite to land the Wake Forest job that became open when Mike Elko left to become the defensive coordinator at Notre Dame.
On Friday, there was a report that Smith had was expected to take the job, but Smith came out and publicly denied that he had been offered the job.
It was a tough year for Smith’s unit, and the Razorbacks had one of the worst defenses in the country, specifically against the run. Arkansas allowed 39 rushing touchdowns this season, the most in the country.
The Razorbacks finished the season 7-6 after a 35-24 loss to Virginia Tech in the Belk Bowl. Arkansas was outscored 35-0 in the second half of the loss.
