Arkansas appears to have found its next women’s basketball coach. And he brings a lot of success with him.
According to a report from Percy Allen of The Seattle Times, the Razorbacks have hired Washington head coach Mike Neighbors to be Arkansas’ next women’s basketball head coach.
In his four seasons at Washington, Neighbors went 98-41 and helped the Huskies get to the Sweet 16 this year and a Final Four appearance last season. Neighbors also coached Kelsey Plum at Washington, who went on to become the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer.
Neighbors is originally from Greenwood, Ark., and graduated from Arkansas. The job came open after Jimmy Dykes stepped down at the end of the season. Dykes and the Razorbacks went 13-17 this season and 2-14 in SEC play. Neighbors was an assistant with the Razorbacks during the 2006-07 season.
