FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Running back Chase Hayden may soon no longer be considered an Arkansas commit in the 2017 class. However, the St. George’s Independent School (Collierville, Tenn.) 3-star recruit hasn’t decommitted from the Hogs.
Hayden (5-foot-10, 189 pounds) is reportedly set to visit Michigan this weekend. Sources have indicated to SEC Country that Arkansas will no longer view him among its commits in the class if he takes that visit. His offer from the Hogs will stand regardless.
Arkansas is looking to sign two running backs in the class. Charlotte High School (Punta Gorda, Fla.) 3-star running back Maleek Williams is currently committed. No longer viewing Hayden as a commit means the Razorbacks would begin to pursue other running backs in the class. The Hogs currently have 19 total commits, including Hayden, in the 2017 class.
Hayden committed to Arkansas in late July. Not all Arkansas commits that take visits to other schools are no longer considered committed. The Razorbacks view such situations differently depending on what is established at the time of commitment.
Other reports have indicated Hayden decommitted, which is not the case at this time. Hayden clarified that via Twitter on Thursday evening.
I did not decommit!
