FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — As if they needed any extra incentive, University of Arkansas folks now have a little more reason to cheer for the Razorbacks to upset No. 1 Alabama on Saturday.
Eureka Pizza owner Rolf Wilkin announced Monday that he would give away 1,000 free pizzas to Arkansas students, faculty and staff members if the Hogs end their 9-season losing streak to the Crimson Tide.
Wilkin made the pledge during an appearance on “The Forum with John Nabors” on ESPN 99.5 radio in Fayetteville.
“It’s been 10 frustrating years since we’ve beaten Alabama,” Wilkin told Nabors. “Ten years is a long time. Our freshmen were in third grade the last time we beat them.
“We have been so, so close the past two years. I know in my heart we’ll win on Saturday so I want to do something special for the students — the best students in the country — that’s why after we win, we’ll give away, absolutely free 1,000 large pepperoni, sausage or cheese pizzas to university students, faculty and staff.”
Should the Razorbacks win, the giveaway will begin at 10 a.m. Monday at the Eureka Pizza campus location at 826 N. Leverett Ave.
There will be a one-pizza limit per person.
“My accountant thinks I am crazy,” Wilkin said. “I like to say I’m a football maniac. Win or lose I will always love and support my team.”
Wilkin also said he would provide free pizza for a year to the Arkansas student who creates the best sad Nick Saban meme.
