Former Arkansas defensive end Deatrich Wise Jr. has signed with the New England Patriots.
New England made the news official Thursday. Wise became the No. 131 overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He played five seasons at Arkansas, totaling 16.5 career sacks and 23 tackles for loss.
Wise enters a quality situation with the Patriots, who are coming off a Super Bowl title. New England arguably is the top franchise in the NFL today, and Wise will work to become part of a defensive line situation in which he should compete for a rotation spot. His opportunities should be aplenty.
Wise has a chance to establish himself early with strong play. It will be interesting to follow his professional career.
