FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Michael Taylor is finally on his way to join the Arkansas football program.
Coach Bret Bielema announced Thursday the 6-foot-3, 248-pound defensive end from Riverside (Calif.) City College is currently in route to Fayetteville. Taylor will be immediately eligible for the next three seasons. He has already exhausted his redshirt.
A late addition to the 2016 recruiting class, Taylor’s status with the team had been uncertain since he committed on July 21 and signed the following day. His coursework had to go through the proper channels in order for him to be cleared to join the Razorbacks this season.
Bielema said Taylor still has some paperwork to get cleared, but he will be with the team this fall. His “role” with the Razorbacks in 2016 is expected to be determined in the next couple of days, according to Bielema.
“Excited for him and excited for the opportunity that brings,” Bielema said.
Taylor had 50 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss and 4 sacks as a freshman at Riverside last season.
