With a new law recently signed into order by Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson, guns will now be permitted throughout various publicly funded buildings throughout the state. However, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey is not on board with HB 1249 being enacted at Razorbacks athletic contests.
In his statement, which was obtained by sportscaster Bo Mattingly, Sankey calls for the law to be ”exempted” for Arkansas athletic events.

It’s understandable why Sankey and the SEC would want to distance themselves from a law that could have grave consequences regarding the safety of all involved.
The University of Arkansas is not allowed to opt out of the law, which will go into effect on Sept. 1.
