FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Arkansas dropped in the SEC Country Power Poll after a 49-30 loss to Alabama.
Arkansas (4-2, 0-2 SEC) is now No. 7, down from No. 5 last week. Alabama (6-0, 3-0) remains No. 1 in the poll. The poll consists of 17 media members from SEC Country and around the nation.
The AP poll and coaches’ poll will both be released Monday, a day later than usual, due to Hurricane Matthew forcing games to be rescheduled.
The Crimson Tide dominated the Hogs from the opening kick at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium, rolling out to a 35-17 halftime lead.
Alabama had 396 total yards in the first half and finished the game with 517. The Tide also took advantage of 5 turnovers by the Hogs (2 fumbles and 3 interceptions) to keep the game uncompetitive for most of the night.
Arkansas quarterback Austin Allen was under pressure all night, a growing concern for the Razorbacks as their offensive line continues to struggle. Alabama sacked Allen six times and had 12 quarterback hurries.
Allen still threw for 400 yards with 3 touchdowns and 3 interceptions. He and wide receivers Jared Cornelius (5 catches, 146 yards) and Keon Hatcher (4 catches, 2 touchdowns) were among the few bright spots for Arkansas.
Alabama has now won 10 straight in the series.
Arkansas shifts its focus to hosting Mississippi (3-2, 1-1) at 6 p.m. this Saturday. The Rebels are No. 4 in the SEC Country poll.
The schedule remains rigorous for Arkansas over the next few weeks. The Hogs face two current top 25 teams over the next three weeks.
Check back next Sunday to see where Arkansas stands in the Week 7 SEC Country Power Poll.
