What a difference two weeks makes.
After consecutive losses to Toledo and Texas Tech, Arkansas coach Bret Bielema is searching for answers.
Texas Tech coach Kliff Kingsbury had a colorful reaction following his team’s 35-24 win on Saturday.
“He just got his ass kicked twice in a row and probably next week by A&M as well,” Kingsbury told multiple reporters.
Kingsbury was apparently offended by comments that Bielema made at a Texas high school coaches convention this past summer. Kingsbury said he took it personally because he is the son of a Texas high school coach, according to the AP’s Kurt Voigt.
“He [Bielema] stood up and said if you use a fullback we’ll kick your ass. If you throw it 70 times a game we’ll kick your ass,” Kingsbury said to reporters.
Kingsbury was probably waiting for this moment since he heard those comments, and he wasn’t done.
“He’s a prideful guy and says what’s on his mind, but it just hasn’t worked out for him,” Kingsbury said.
Bielema has not made many friends in the past two weeks after he publicly criticized No. 1-ranked Ohio State’s schedule. Since then, the Razorbacks lost to Toledo and a Texas Tech team they beat 49-28 a year ago, and are now 1-2 with a full SEC schedule to come.
Arkansas appeared to have a chance to at least compete for the SEC West after Week 1, but that is a long shot now.
Bielema probably wants to forget the past two weeks ever happened.
Kliff Kingsbury just said "(Bielema) just got his ass kicked." Really.
