Arkansas commit scores game-winner with broken thumb in Oklahoma’s biggest rivalry
Jenks (Okla.) High School two-way standout Jordon Curtis, who is committed to Arkansas as a 3-star cornerback in the 2017 class, scored the game-winning touchdown in the Backyard Bowl clash against rival Tulsa (Okla.) Union High School on Friday.
Curtis had a tie-breaking 7-yard touchdown run with 74 seconds remaining to give Jenks the win despite playing with a broken thumb, according to the Tulsa World. The report also said Curtis is set to have surgery Tuesday, keeping him out for two weeks.
Curtis held Union wide receiver Tre Brown, a 4-star 2017 prospect who is committed to Oklahoma, to 2 catches for 22 yards.
The annual game is considered the biggest rivalry in Oklahoma, with college prospects on both teams. In the latest edition, 16,655 fans attended at the University of Tulsa’s H.A. Chapman Stadium. Jenks won 35-28 against Union, which was ranked 15th nationally by USA Today. The two schools have combined to win the past 20 state titles in Oklahoma’s largest classification.
