Arkansas will open up spring practice without a couple of players from last year’s roster. Coach Bret Bielema announced Monday that sophomore offensive lineman Josh Allen and junior defensive back Cornelius Floyd are no longer with the program, according to Whole Hog Sports’ Andrew Hutchinson.
Floyd was removed from the team for failing to meet Arkansas’ academic standards, according to Hutchinson. But Bielema said Floyd could return to the team in the summer. Floyd’s lone appearance last season came during Arkansas’ 63-28 rout of Tennessee-Martin on Oct. 31, recording three total tackles.
Bielema did not provide a specific reason for Allen’s removal from the team and said he was still taking classes at Arkansas. He will be off the team indefinitely, according to Hutchinson. Allen did not play a snap for the Razorbacks last season.
