A lot of people try to convince the police to not give them a ticket. They’ll make up an excuse or some convoluted explanation as to why an officer just let them off with a warning.
Former Arkansas running back Jonathan Williams tried to do this, and his “excuse” was that he had just been drafted.
Per footage obtained by TMZ, Williams told the officer, “I just got drafted about maybe two months ago. I’m really not trying to be in any kind of trouble.” In the video Williams also admits to drinking a 40 ounce before driving. The video also shows the former Arkansas running back performing some sobriety tests. Williams also refused a breathalyzer.
Williams was arrested on July 14 and charged with a DWI in Fayetteville, Ark. Williams was drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft by the Buffalo Bills. He missed the entire 2015 season with a foot injury. In his junior year in 2014, Williams rushed for 1,190 yards and 11 touchdowns.
