Alex Collins soon will find out where he’s headed in the NFL Draft, but just three years ago, the running back was in the headlines after a wild recruiting saga that eventually ended with him at Arkansas against his mother’s wishes.
When Collins chose to play for first-year coach Bret Bielema at Arkansas on National Signing Day, his mother stole the papers that needed to be faxed to make the commitment official. She wanted her son to stay closer to home and play for the Miami Hurricanes.
With the help of Collins’ biological father, Bielema eventually landed the highly-touted running back recruit and rehashed the story three years later.
Collins went on to post three consecutive 1,000-yard rushing seasons, racking up 3,703 yards and 36 touchdowns with the Razorbacks before deciding to enter the 2016 NFL Draft.
