Will Bret Bielema’s black hat bring Arkansas luck against Alabama?
Arkansas fans went to Twitter Saturday night following the Razorbacks’ 24-20 win at Tennessee to rave about coach Bret Bielema’s new good luck charm: his black Razorback hat.
The Arkansas coach broke out the hat midway through this past Saturday’s game due to rain that hit Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium, and from that moment on, the Razorbacks took control of the game.
Now, does this mean Bielema, who traditionally wears no headgear during games, will buy into this superstition? As a matter of fact, it does.
An Arkansas fan asked Bielema on his radio show Thursday night if he would continue to wear the black hat.
“I have to now,” Bielema responded with a laugh.
After all, the Arkansas fan base bought into it a year ago when the Razorbacks finished the year winning three of their final four games while Bielema donned a bearded look.
So, if the Razorbacks shock the college football world Saturday and upset Alabama in Tuscaloosa, you don’t need to credit anything but what sits on top of Bielema’s head.
