Auburn added four-star linebacker Tadarian Moultry to its list of Class of 2017 commits on Friday, as he announced his decision, choosing the Tigers over in-state rival Alabama.
Moultry is a 6-foot-2, 225-pound linebacker from Jackson-Olin High School in Birmingham, Ala. He narrowed his choices to the two in-state powers, although he also had offers from UGA, Mississippi State, Missouri and Ole Miss. Moultry is the No. 9 inside linebacker in the nation on 247 Sports’ Composite rankings.
Auburn was the first school to offer Moultry and he told SEC Country’s Chris Kirschner in January that it is something he still values.
“I love how they treat me as family there,” Moutry said. “They have been watching me since my ninth grade year. I think about it all of the time — if they didn’t offer me — would I have all of these offers? Auburn will always be at the top of my list because they were the first ones to give me a chance.”
Auburn coach Gus Malzahn celebrated the news, shortly after Moultry’s announcement:
