Highly touted freshman forward Danjel Purifoy will eventually take the floor for Auburn, but it won’t be this season.
Purifoy will redshirt and have four years of eligibility remaining beginning with the 2016-17 season, the school announced Tuesday. He has been sidelined this season while the NCAA looked into his ACT scores.
The 6-foot-7 forward was rated as the No. 1 player in Alabama in the 2015 class by 247sports composite rankings after averaging 25 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks per contest at Hargrave Military Academy in Virginia. He played his junior season at Bibb County High School in Centreville, Ala.
Auburn (9-15, 3-9 SEC) has six games remaining in the regular season before the SEC tournament begins in Nashville on March 9th.
