Sean White is back.
The freshman will return to the starting quarterback role for Auburn’s matchup with Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl Wednesday. Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said on the radio shortly before the game that junior quarterback Jeremy Johnson will still see time on the field.
Johnson, who was benched after three games, started the final four games of the regular season with White limited by a left knee injury, which he sustained in a loss to Arkansas on Oct. 24. The Tigers finished 2-2 with Johnson under center, but White will get a chance to build on the rhythm he developed in his first five starts of the season.
White has completed 57.7 percent of his passes for 1,064 yards in six games with one touchdown and two interceptions.
The Birmingham Bowl kicks off at noon ET at Legion Field.
