ATHENS, Ga. — It’s the Deep South’s Oldest rivalry, and there’s plenty at stake.
For Auburn, anyway.
The ninth-ranked Tigers (7-2, 5-1) travel to face the Georgia Bulldogs (5-4, 3-4) at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Sanford Stadium. Auburn, despite one conference loss, looks to keep pace with top-ranked Alabama, setting up an Iron Bowl showdown with SEC title game and College Football Playoff implications.
Auburn suffered a scare a week ago, having to hold on late to beat Vanderbilt 23-16 at home. The Tigers still boast the league’s top rushing offense, but will have to find room against Georgia’s run defense. The Bulldogs, despite their struggles in other areas, rank third in the SEC in that regard, surrendering just over 118 yards on the ground a game.
