Make no mistake, the Auburn baseball team is reeling and could use a strong finish to the regular season beginning Thursday night against Ole Miss.
Two weeks ago the Tigers were right at the top of the SEC West standings. After losing its last seven games — sweeps against Alabama and LSU with a loss to UAB in between — the Auburn baseball team is in the bottom half of the West with a 14-13 league record.

What you should know
Setting the tone early
Auburn starting pitchers Keegan Thompson and Casey Mize both missed starts earlier this season and haven’t been the same since returning. At one point in the season, the Thompson-Mize combination was as close to a two-victory guarantee as Auburn baseball has seen in some time. Against Ole Miss, Butch Thompson is returning to his formula from earlier in the season with Keegan pitching Game 1, followed by Mize in Game 2 in Davis Daniel in the finale.
Where are the bats?
Auburn scored just four runs in the three-game series last weekend against LSU. In the first game, the Tigers managed just 5 hits in a 4-0 shutout; Game was better with 9 hits in a 5-3 loss but the final game was a disaster as Auburn managed just a pair of hits in a 9-1 loss.
Leadoff hitter Jonah Todd is the team’s only .300 hitter — he’s batting .383 — and for the Tigers to get back on track, he needs to set the table early and often this weekend.
