Auburn baseball’s opening weekend and its first midweek game went about as well as they could have gone.
After four games, the Tigers are undefeated and off to their best season start since 2013. Butch Thompson’s team has also kept things interesting, especially during a tight game against Georgia State on Tuesday night.
To pick up a win, Conor Davis singled, scoring shortstop Will Holland for the tying run and Brendan Venter added a walk-off hit to give Auburn a 3-2 victory.
Now, Thompson’s ball club will try to take down an in-state opponent it is more than familiar with. Some players on the roster likely still remember falling to the Trojans in 2017. Wednesday night will be a chance to avenge that loss. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m. CT.
