Auburn basketball will be missing a key contributor on Saturday when it takes on Ole Miss. Horace Spencer will not play the game because of a shoulder injury, coach Bruce Pearl announced on Friday.
Pearl said team doctors are determining whether Spencer will need surgery.
“He’s still out. I think next week we’ll probably get more of a read on his situation,” Pearl said. “I think what the doctors are doing they’re trying to determine whether or not he needs surgery or not or whether or not he could come back this year. I think that’s what the delay is. But, he’s rehabbing, but he will not make the trip.”
Spencer, a 6-foot-9 sophomore forward from Philadelphia, averages 4.8 points per game and 3.4 rebounds per game for the Tigers. Spencer plays an average of 16.1 minutes per game.
Auburn won its past two games, against Alabama and Mississippi State. The Tigers are 16-8 and 5-6 in the SEC and have an outside chance at getting an NCAA Tournament bid.
The Tigers and Rebels tip off in Oxford, Miss., at 6 p.m. ET on SEC Network.
