AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn is No. 1 … in basketball.
You heard that correctly. Bruce Pearl’s early commitments have pushed Auburn to the top of the heap on the national level, according to Scout.com’s first 2017 class rankings.
Auburn has commitments from the nation’s No. 8 (forward Austin Wiley) and No. 36 (guard Davion Mitchell) prospects.
Wiley is the highest-rated commitment in the country, so these rankings will surely change as the seven players ahead of him start making their decisions later this fall, but for now Auburn can claim the No. 1 spot.
Meanwhile, Auburn ranks No. 2 in 247Sports’ rankings and UCLA is No. 1 with its three commitments.
Pearl’s first three classes at Auburn ranked 32nd, 15th and 25th, respectively, according to 247Sports’ composite rankings.
