Auburn basketball coach Bruce Pearl underwent knee replacement surgery on Monday and will require a walker for the next two weeks before beginning rehab.
“I’m extremely thankful for Dr. Smith, Dr. Andrews and Dr. Goodlett for their expertise and care,” Pearl said in a release. “At Auburn, we have the best team of doctors and medical and training staff in the country.
“The knee was in really bad shape, and it feels absolutely wonderful now. It is amazing, and I am very fortunate. I will spend a lot of time with our trainers, and it will get me close to the players this spring will working on rehab.”
Pearl previously coached Tennessee to six consecutive NCAA tournaments in six seasons before an investigation of recruiting violations resulted in his firing and a three-year ban from recruiting for the coach. In Pearl’s two seasons at Auburn, the Tigers are 26-40.
