Auburn’s basketball program managed to land a crucial pickup on Tuesday evening. Jared Harper is the clear-cut starter at point guard, but depth was severely needed behind him.
It looks like coach Bruce Pearl got exactly what he needed. J’Von McCormick, one of the country’s top JUCO point guards, committed to the Tigers via his Instagram account:
McCormick was phenomenal for Lee College (Texas) last season. He averaged 18.5 points, 5.3 rebounds and 6.4 assists. In addition, he was effective beyond the arc, shooting 36.4 percent from 3-point range.
Pearl is already making good on the five-year contract extension that he signed earlier this month. He did lose Mustapha Heron to St. John’s. He made up for it, however, with the addition of Austin Wiley’s former high school teammate, combo guard Jamal Johnson, who announced in May that he would be transferring from Memphis.
