Another Auburn player will miss some offseason workouts, as rising junior safety Tray Matthews recently underwent shoulder surgery, according to Brandon Marcello of AL.com.
Matthews nursed a shoulder and ankle injury during the season, which forced him to sit him out three games. An Auburn spokesman told Marcello that the Tigers are hopeful that Matthews will return in time for spring practice.
The 6-foot-1, 213-pound Newnan, Ga., native totaled 41 tackles, two interceptions, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in 10 games. He started seven games.
Matthews transferred to Auburn from UGA after the 2013 season and sat out in 2014 season because of NCAA transfer rules.
