Auburn coach Gus Malzahn announced Tuesday that defensive end Carl Lawson would miss an “extended” period of time with his hip injury.
“The injury is a little more serious than we originally thought,” Malzahn told reporters. “We’re hopeful to get him back before the season is out. He’s obviously an impact player. It’s been really tough on him, especially going through last season.”
Lawson, who earned multiple freshman All-America honors in 2013, was injured in the first half of Auburn’s opening win against Louisville. He missed all of last season with a torn ACL.
He recorded a sack in his only action this season against the Cardinals.
