AUBURN, Ala. – Auburn’s aspirations for a winning season look to be on the probable side, according to Golden Nugget’s betting lines for its games of the year.
Seven of Auburn’s eight SEC games – sans Vanderbilt, which Auburn will likely be favored – were released late last month. The Tigers are favored in two of those SEC games — home games against Texas A&M and Arkansas – and are listed as a pick ‘em on a road trip to Mississippi State.
Auburn will open the season as a touchdown-or-more underdog to national runnerup Clemson on Sept. 3, according to several oddsmakers.
Auburn is an early double-digit underdog to Alabama, which is favored by 15 points in Tuscaloosa. Georgia is a 6.5-point favorite against Auburn in the Deep South’s Oldest Rivalry.
If Auburn wins every game it is favored in, the Tigers would finish with six wins in the regular season. A coin-flip game at Mississippi State would make Auburn 7-5.
The Tigers enter the season having lost nine of their last 11 SEC games, including an 0-4 record at home in 2015.
Auburn’s win total for the season was set at seven games (over -120) by Golden Nugget in May.
