Joining in on fun
Auburn center Austin Golson was added to the Senior Bowl South team on Monday after an injury to another player.
Golson played almost every spot along Auburn’s offensive line during his senior season, making a huge difference for the Tigers’ offense. Right guard Braden Smith opted not to compete in the Senior Bowl. Typically, players “respectfully decline” as Smith said he did, because of injury, but there’s no known injury to Smith.
Smith is projected as a third-round NFL draft pick and is training in Gulf Breeze, Fla.
Meant to tweet this earlier: Auburn lineman Austin Golson has been added to the Senior Bowl roster. The Tigers now have five former players here in Mobile.

Auburn stays in Top 25
Auburn basketball fell to Alabama at Tuscaloosa and looked like it was going to be downed by Georgia on Saturday night.
But the Tigers wouldn’t cave that easily. Pearl’s team rebounded and handed the Bulldogs a double-digit loss. AP voters (such as SEC Country’s own Justin Ferguson) recognized the comeback effort.
On Monday, Auburn found itself at No. 19 in the national polls. That was a slight drop, but two spots is much preferred to falling out of the rankings altogether. Now, the Tigers are headed into games this week against Missouri and LSU as the highest-ranked SEC team.
