AUBURN, Ala. — Auburn offensive coordinator Chip Lindsey reportedly is on the list of interviews this week for the coaching vacancy at South Alabama.
According to Nicole Auerbach of The Athletic, Lindsey is set to interview at South Alabama, along with Clemson co-offensive coordinator Jeff Scott and N.C. State offensive coordinator Eliah Drinkwitz.
Lindsey told reporters Saturday night after Auburn’s SEC Championship Game loss to Georgia that he planned to be the Tigers’ offensive coordinator in 2018.
Last week, Lindsey said he hadn’t spoken yet to South Alabama about the opening. Joey Jones, who started the Jaguars’ program, resigned from his position last month.
“No, I’m focused kinda on what we’re doing here,” Lindsey said.
In his first season at Auburn, Lindsey led the Tigers’ offense to top-20 marks nationally in points per game and yards per play. Lindsey arrived at Auburn in January after one year at Arizona State and two years at Southern Miss.
