The former Tigers quarterback, who recently joined the staff of his high school alma mater of Carver in Montgomery, Ala., signed with another Georgia-based indoor football team last month. But Johnson will play for the Lions now.
Since leaving Auburn after the 2016 season, Johnson has reportedly attempted a pro basketball career and had a tryout with the NFL’s New York Giants.
Columbus starts its training camp for the upcoming season in two weeks. The Lions host the Lehigh Valley Steelhawks in their season opener on Friday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. ET inside the Columbus Civic Center.
