Jordan-Hare Stadium should be a more intense atmosphere than it has been for other SEC games this season.

Auburn football: Weekend the Tigers have been waiting for is finally here

Auburn football is the No. 1 topic in the War Eagle Wakeup every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across the Tigers’ sports world. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Auburn football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Time to welcome No. 1

When the season started, most people assumed that the Tigers would face the best team in the country in November.

Most just believed that team would be the Alabama Crimson Tide.

That still could very well be the case, but first, Auburn will take on No. 1 Georgia in Jordan-Hare Stadium.

Auburn fans are nice, sweet and typically polite. They don’t boast the same reputation as other SEC fan bases. But if Jordan-Hare is going to be a little bit louder this season, the coming weekend will be tough to beat.

A top 10 matchup means pulling out all the stops. And don’t worry one bit, the motivation and really cool highlight videos won’t be lacking.

Time for tip-off

Auburn basketball’s exhibition didn’t go exactly as planned, but the real fun (and the games that count) start Friday night.

The Tigers take on Norfolk State at 7 p.m. CT in Auburn Arena.

Auburn is 80-31 all time in season openers and has enjoyed tremendous success at home. Coach Bruce Pearl remains undefeated in season openers on the Plains.

For now, two starters will still be missing, but it will be a good opportunity for the team to figure out a few things and get things rolling.

Dancing before football

Auburn soccer will open NCAA Tournament play with a match against Hofstra on Friday night. The opening kick is set for 5 p.m. CT at the Auburn Soccer Complex and the game can be viewed on SEC Network+.

The Tigers (7-6-5) are making their fourth straight (and 15th overall) NCAA appearance under coach Karen Hoppa. It’s also the third consecutive time Auburn has hosted a postseason game.

Tweet of the day

You can bet that Jordan-Hare will be prepped and ready for the weekend.
