Auburn football: What to know ahead of spring practice; baseball’s midweek games

Auburn football is the No. 1 topic in the War Eagle Wakeup every day — but we cover news, notes and analysis from across the Tigers’ sports world. Join us each morning to get caught up on everything you missed in the world of Auburn football, recruiting, basketball and more.

Spring previews

SEC Country has a constant flow of content being published daily and that’s only going to continue as spring practice nears for Auburn football.

In the days leading up to the Tigers’ first practice, Auburn writer Justin Ferguson is previewing each of the position groups. If you have questions about who is going to be playing where this spring and starring in the A-Day game, you’re going to want to pay close attention to this series.

On Monday, “Ferg” took a look at how Auburn’s offensive line (under new coach J.B. Grimes) could shape up.

The home stand continues

Auburn baseball enjoyed its first weekend on The Plains by sweeping Longwood, and the Tigers are back at it Tuesday.

Butch Thompson’s team hosts Georgia State at 4 p.m. CT Tuesday at Plainsman Park. Auburn has defeated the Panthers 15 times (and only lost once) since the two teams first played in 1949.

Sophomore right-hander Ryan Watson will start for Auburn, as the ball club comes off of one of its best opening weekends in a decade.

Weekend at SEC championships

Few SEC programs enjoyed the SEC Swimming and Diving Championships like Auburn did. The Tigers ended the weekend with 6 podium finishes and a title in the women’s 400 freestyle relay.

There were 16 top 3 finishes during the five days, two individual titles and the four women’s relay podiums.

These were the full results from Sunday:
