Auburn won’t have to travel far to play Memphis in the Birmingham Bowl on Dec. 30. That may be part of the reason that Vegas slightly favors the SEC team for now.
Auburn is currently a 2 ½-point favorite over Memphis, according to VegasInsider’s consensus odds.
Auburn (6-6, 2-6 SEC) finished a rocky regular season losing two of its final three games, while Memphis (9-3, 5-3 American Athletic Conference) lost three of its final four contests.
Both programs are in the midst of coaching changes. Auburn will likely have an interim defensive coordinator after Will Muschamp left to take the South Carolina head coaching job. Memphis offensive coordinator Darrell Dickey will serve as the interim head coach for Memphis, who recently hired Mike Norvell to replace new Virginia Tech head coach Justin Fuente.
Memphis already upset one SEC West opponent (Ole Miss) this season, so Auburn will try to avoid being the second SEC favorite to fall.
