One of the most iconic plays in the history of Auburn football, the Kick Six, has now been immortalized in video game form.
YouTube user irishkidd84 has made a hobby of re-creating famous plays and football games using Tecmo Bowl, the classic football video game from 1987. On Wednesday, he released one of his most anticipated videos yet: the ending of the 2013 Iron Bowl.
Everyone knows the play. Alabama kicker Adam Griffith attempted a 56-yard field goal for the win, but his kick fell short. Auburn CB Chris Davis fielded the kick in his own end zone before returning it 109 yards for a touchdown and a 34-28 win.
Irishkidd84 re-created the play using the audio from both the CBS broadcast – with Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson – and Auburn’s radio broadcast with Rod Bramblett and Stan White.
Take a look. It’s sure to make your day better, unless you’re an Alabama fan.
The Kick Six propelled Auburn to the SEC Championship, where the Tigers took down Missouri and earned a spot in the national championship game. It was the second of two improbable home wins for Auburn. Two weeks earlier, the Tigers beat Georgia in “The Prayer at Jordan-Hare.”
