Bruce Pearl landed his second 5-star commit for the Auburn Tigers.
Austin Wiley, a 5-star power forward in the class of 2017, committed to Auburn over Duke, North Carolina and Kansas — three of the most storied basketball powerhouses in the country. In the class of 2016, Auburn also has small forward Mustapha Heron locked up.
The nation’s No. 21 commit told Phillip Marshall of Auburn Undercover on Saturday why he decided to choose Auburn over other national programs.
“It’s just the place, the atmosphere, the fans, the coaching staff,” Wiley said. “Everything seemed perfect. For me, it’s the perfect place to play basketball.”
His mother, Vickie Orr Wiley was a three-time All-American and carried Auburn’s women’s basketball team to two national championship games and his father, Aubrey Wiley, led the SEC in rebounding in 1994.
Austin looks to keep the Wiley legacy alive on The Plains.
I'm proud to say that I will be furthering my education and basketball career at Auburn University ??? #WarEagle
