Auburn lands commitment from elite Florida quarterback
Joey Gatewood is two years away from playing college football, but the dual-threat quarterback has settled on his school of choice.
Late Saturday evening, the 2018 prospect from Jacksonville, Fla., committed to Auburn, he announced through Twitter. He spurned Florida State in the process.
The 6-foot-3, 206-pound sophomore from Bartram Trail High School is ranked as the No. 2 quarterback in 2018, per 247Sports.com, and gives Auburn its first verbal commitment in the class.
Gatewood’s primary recruiter has been offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee.
