The struggling Auburn defense will get some help against Mississippi State on Saturday with the return of starting sam linebacker Justin Garrett.
“There’s no question (Garrett) will play Saturday,” Auburn defensive coordinator Will Muschamp told multiple reporters on Wednesday.
The senior missed Saturday’s blowout loss to LSU, during which the Auburn defense allowed 485 yards of total offense, including 411 on the ground.
Garrett strained his quad in the second game of the season against Jacksonville State. He was a game-time decision last Saturday.
Garrett played well in the opening win over Louisville and had one the biggest plays, an 82-yard fumble return for a touchdown in the second quarter.
Muschamp said there would be changes after the lopsided defeat in Baton Rouge, but he will be able to pencil in Garrett to start on Saturday.
