Auburn’s backup center Xavier Dampeer will miss Thursday night’s game against Kentucky, and possibly more, after he was injured in the reported altercation that led to the dismissal of former wide receiver Duke Williams.
“He (Dampeer) will not play,” Auburn coach Gus Malzahn told reporters on Monday. “He’s out for an extended period of time.”
Dampeer sustained a jaw injury during the scuffle in local Auburn club Skybar, according to the Alabama News Network. The report said a source close to the program identified Dampeer as one of Williams’ victims in the altercation.
Dampeer was treated at a local hospital for his injuries last Wednesday and subsequently released, according to the report.
Dampeer is listed as the No. 2 center behind Austin Golson. Dampeer has not played in Auburn’s previous four games after playing briefly in the opening game against Louisville.
Six days ago, Malzahn said "there's nothing major" in terms of injuries along OL/DL. Today he said Xavier Dampeer is out for extended time.
