What is the latest with Auburn recruiting?
Auburn trails Georgia for in-state linebacker, rising prospect
Kenney Britt has seen his stock rise considerably in recent weeks. The three-star prospect has reported 10 new offers in the past month alone. Surprisingly, Britt named Georgia his leader just days ago. Where does that leave Auburn? Britt recently told SEC Country he’s still in ‘love’ with the program, and the opportunity for early playing time is evident. But it’s clear the Bulldogs have the same appeal. Britt plans on visiting Clemson and South Carolina this weekend, so he won’t be on the Plains for the A-Day game. While he may be trending to Georgia at this very moment, Auburn still remains in good shape.
Georgia receiver Jeremiah Holloman has Tennessee on top, but Auburn is right behind
Auburn continues to push on the gas for receivers despite having signed three four-star prospects in the 2016 recruiting cycle. Holloman, a four-star prospect from Covington, Ga., is one of several receivers the Tigers are pursuing, but the program has some ground to make up behind the Volunteers. Holloman visited Knoxville over the weekend and felt comfortable enough to name Tennessee his leader. How does he feel about Auburn? He unofficially visited two weeks ago. It marked the first time he’s had face-to-face contact with receivers coach Kodi Burns and coach Gus Malzahn. That’s certainly a start.
Tigers sign graduate transfer at key position
After losing defensive back Blake Countess to the NFL Draft, Auburn was in need of immediate reinforcements in the secondary. Enter Marshall Taylor, a graduate transfer from Miami (Ohio). Taylor signed with Auburn following his official visit over the weekend. The Georgia native has been close with defensive backs coach Wesley McGriff since high school and that relationship played a large part in Taylor’s decision to play for the Tigers next season. With Taylor on board, Auburn can continue to groom several other underclassmen.
