Auburn releases depth chart
The wait is over.
Auburn finally released its depth chart for the season opener against Louisville on Saturday.
One of the most competitive battles of camp was at the running back position. Sophomore Roc Thomas won the job, beating out sophomore Peyton Barber and junior-college transfer Jovon Robinson. Thomas will start, but Auburn coach Gus Malzahn indicated that all three could play on Saturday.
The linebacker position may be where Auburn is the deepest. Sophomore Tre’ Williams and seniors Kris Frost and Justin Garrett will line up on the first team for new defensive coordinator Will Muschamp.
Three freshman made the first team on the depth chart including Tim Irvin who will start at the nickel corner, and tight end Jalen Harris.
One player who won’t be on any depth charts this season for Auburn is wide receiver Myron Burton, who Gus Malzahn announced was leaving the program. He called it a “mutual” decision.
The depth chart battle is over. Now all the focus turns toward the battle on Saturday with Louisville.
