Auburn will play host to a Georgia linebacker later this month.
Chandler Wooten, a three-star outside linebacker from Kennesaw, Ga., will be on The Plains Feb. 20, following a visit to South Carolina the weekend before.
Wooten told SEC Country in January that he would decide between Clemson, Auburn, North Carolina and Tennessee following a string of unofficial visits.
However, he has since decided against it.
“I have to let things play out and I have to be sure what I’m doing is right,” said Wooten, rated as the No. 33 outside linebacker in 2017.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound junior from North Cobb High School has long been considered a favorite to sign with Clemson. He raved about the Tigers during the 2016 Georgia Junior Bowl presented by the Rising Seniors Foundation.
But Wooten also recognized the potential for early playing time at Auburn.
“As far as defense, they need players to step in early,” Wooten said in a recent interview. “I think I can go in there and play pretty soon.”
Wooten has been primarily recruited by assistant coach Tim Horton following the departure of Will Muschamp.
