Auburn (49-9) will open regional play Friday against in-state foe Jacksonville State (41-15). First pitch is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET at Jane B. Moore Field. The Tigers are coming off its second straight SEC Tournament title with victories against Alabama, Florida and LSU.
Auburn will host a regional this weekend a super regional on Memorial Day weekend if it advances. The Tigers would host the winner of the No. 13 Tennessee (41-14) regional. The match-up could pose trouble for the Tigers. Auburn lost both of its games at Tennessee in run-rule fashion after only five innings earlier this season.
Auburn is 4-4 against four of the other seven teams in the top eight national seeds.
Eight of the top 16 seeds, which host regionals, are SEC teams.
