More familiar faces

A few weeks back several players earned recognition from strength and conditioning coach Ryan Russell. That’s an accomplishment, considering the strength coach has seen so many talented players in his weight room.

Here are a few of the standouts who have been putting in work at the Auburn Athletics Complex. Fans will be pleased to see who made the list.

Baseball’s season comes to end 

Auburn baseball fought for 11 innings in Florida on Monday night and eventually suffered a loss to the defending national champions.

The Tigers ended up losing the rubber game of the Gainesville Super Regional 3-2 but made plenty of people proud beforehand with a memorable season. Part of that was seeing Butch Thompson’s team finish with Auburn’s first-ever super regional win after its victory on Sunday.

“I told them I love them for the rest of their life. They’re part of me,” Thompson said after the season-ending loss. “They’re part of my family forever. This 2018 version at Auburn has left an unbelievable legacy within our program and on our university that I think is noteworthy.”

The final record for Thompson’ club was 43-23. Auburn also won two games at the SEC Tournament in Hoover, Ala., and was the regional champion. Here’s a look back at how this tight group will be remembered:
